V Digest #1, re: islands (specifically making them prettier)

A test V digest because I'm anxious to see how it works, and V has been working rather than writing big descriptions of the changes going in. Actually probably a good thing.

Echoed:
[Fri May 29 02:51] We may lag a bit as I test some new topography data creating functions on the server, this will suck up 100% of the CPU for a while but THEORETICALLY the system setup will protect this process. -V
(He messes around with islands for a while.)

The good parts version of chatlog:
[Fri May 29 02:52] Vryce: NICE, no lag at all, server sounds like a jet engine which is scary but this public game is detecting ZERO lag in processing commands and AI. Linux rules
[Fri May 29 02:56] Vryce: wow it made the prettiest island ever, 4 rivers from the volcano cool shape, lakes and all
He also mentions that he's pretty much ready to start daily changes, and that islands will come back and workers will live on them, but later islands will go offline again as more changes go in. He also mentions hating coffee D:

Winged Things

I woke up tonight knowing their was evil abroad in the land, and I needed to do something about it. I come from a long line of heroes, going back to great-granddad Rhynok. I flew of to Inurbial to see if I could be of assistance to the good people there, if any such still existed. During my brief time their Kyushla enrolled Aicusa into our fine clan.

Within a few minutes of joining us, he has volunteered to lead us in cleansing to land of fae bats that plague our land every morning and evening when the fog rolls in. I hurried back to the capital city to lend him what aid I could. I am a high level warrior, and he is a thief about ready to reclass. We moved outdoors to find our foe, but instead were threatened by nature in the form of violent tornado. We worded back into the city, then went back out the eastern gate, more cautiously this time.

Our attacks began in earnest at this time. We killed 10 or 15, then ran into problems. They kept coming at us, without giving us time to rest. We were both former clerics, but being tanks now, just didn't have the mana needed to keep going. We called to the rest of the clan for help, and Skibharr answered us. Although this was much appreciated, there were still problems.

Skibharr phased to us, in the middle of a battle, and couldn't immediately join our formation. On top of this, he seemed disoriented, slow, kind of laggy, and couldn't get into the flow of battle right away. Oh, yes, and he is another thief. Not that I have anything against thieves, but we really needed someone to stand at our backs and heal us.

Acuisa led us back into the city to rest again, and called on another friend: Alkith, "Elther, fizzy bliss" of the Wrath Clan, a cleric of heroic proportions. Out of the swirling chaos of battle, Skibharr was
able to join our meager forces, and, with Alkith to stand at our backs healing, we headed back out into the deadly fog.

We went out bravely and faced our foe, slaying all we could find. I eventually
ran out of yews, and had to resort to my meager tremor attack, which quickly drained the small portion of mana alloted to a warrior. Then an unexpected thing happened. A large, blue dragon landed nearby and attacked Alkith, who straight away called down a silver dragon. But, before the summoned assistance could arrive, Skibharr and Aicusa wisely fled. I was blinded by the blue dragon, and someone transported us back to Medievia Square, where we joined back up.

After sitting, resting, and healing, we went back out to drive the bats away from our capital again. The four of us did what we could, but the bats fled when the fog retreated back to the sea. I'm not sure how many we slew, but it was a fair adventure.

Next time, we shall be a bit more organized, and try different tactics. The bats have matured. We used to be able to charm them and lead them. We'd order them to sleep, and attacks scores at a time. They've learned, and aren't so gullible as to blindly follow us anymore. But, perhaps we can still lure them to one location, so we don't have to go hunting them.

(If there are any errors in this, please accept my apologies.)

First post

First!
Anyhow...

--#--
Excerpt from clannews (I'm opposed to extra work >.>)
--#--

Go ahead and post about pretty much anything: trs, xp runs,
eq runs, towngames, the exciting parts or frustrating parts you'd
tell people on clan about later. Discuss med events, new changes,
complain about stuff. Stuff from your life you want to show off is
great too, and we could use it to organize bigger runs or suggest
stuff for us to do.

The only things to really stay away from are: complaints that are
personal attacks, personal stuff you don't want the public/internet
reading (if you're okay putting it on the clan channel it's probably
fine), etc.
...
If you want to be able to post, let [Kyushla] or Vlue know and we can
send you an invite.

If you don't want to post, you can still stay in touch by following
the blog or or setting up an RSS feed. (Following will send
notifications to your email, I think.)

Woot! I hope you all make good use of this! It will give you
all a chance to keep in touch with those members who do
not log on at the same time as you. :3
